Supporting tissue-based research across the UK
TRICIA is a UK-wide collaborative network committed to enabling synovial tissue research in juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). Our expanding network of clinical sites plays a key role in delivering ultrasound-guided biopsy procedures and supporting tissue-based studies.
Where We Are Active
The TRICIA network currently includes multiple NHS paediatric rheumatology centres with the capacity to undertake synovial biopsies as part of clinical research. Each centre is supported with:

Expanding Our Reach
We are actively working to increase the number of participating sites across the UK. Site selection is informed by:
- Local clinical expertise and imaging infrastructure
- Institutional support and interest
- Access to laboratory and sample processing facilities
- Patient population and recruitment potential
Feasibility assessments help identify centres ready to implement biopsy procedures and contribute to TRICIA research studies.
