Our funding
TRICIA and its foundational research initiatives are supported by major funding bodies committed to advancing paediatric rheumatology and synovial tissue research.
The UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) Medical Research Council (MRC) currently funds the development of the TRICIA network through a Partnership Award (MR/W028557/1) to Professor Adam Croft, running from 1 December 2022 to 30 November 2027. This support strengthens the infrastructure for multi-centre synovial tissue research, ensuring the continued integration of synovial biopsies into clinical trials and routine care.
MAPJAG was initially established through the Arthritis Therapy Acceleration Programme (A-TAP), funded by the Kennedy Trust for Rheumatology Research. This funding enabled the development of the observational study, laying the groundwork for paediatric synovial biopsy research. The programme later received further support from Versus Arthritis through the Multiomic Analysis of Paediatric Joint and Gut Inflammation (MAPJAG) award (AZR01020), awarded to Professor Adam Croft, running from 1 November 2020 to 31 January 2024.
This study has been delivered through the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Birmingham Biomedical Research Centre (BRC). The views expressed are those of the author(s) and not necessarily those of the research funders, the NIHR, or the Department of Health and Social Care.
